Top 10 Of The Oddest Marvel Characters

Hellcow

Hellcow
Real name: Bessie
Origins: Switzerland
Powers: Vampire
First appeared: 1975 in Giant Sized Man-Thingissue No. 5
Bio: One night Dracula, while traveling through the Swiss countryside, finds a cow named Bessie and drinks her blood. Bessie’s owner discovers her lifeless, bitten body and buries her. Three days later, she arises from the dead and begins to roam the earth seeking revenge on Dracula. After 300 years of fruitless searching, Bessie travels to Cleveland. She meets Howard the Duck, whom she mistakes for Dracula. A raging, confused Bessie attacks Howard, who drives a wooden stake through her heart and puts her to rest for eternity.

The Asbestos Lady

The Asbestos Lady
Real name: Victoria Murdock
Power: Fireproof clothing
First appeared: 1947 in Captain AmericaNo. 63
Bio: A brilliant chemist with a criminal mind, Victoria Murdock earned her moniker by creating fireproof clothing lined with asbestos for her and her henchmen to don as they robbed banks. Wielding a flamethrower, she set fires to ward off the police while the bandits made their escape. She also created asbestos bullets to puncture the defenses of her longtime nemesis, the Human Torch. However, as the hazards of longtime exposure became better known, the Asbestos Lady herself fell victim to the carcinogenic fiber. She was revealed to have cancer in 1990 and, sadly, is believed to have succumbed to the disease.

Lockjaw

Lockjaw
Alias: Sparky
Powers: Jaws of steel, multidimensional teleportation
First appeared: 1965, in The Fantastic FourNo. 45
Bio: Lockjaw’s name is no coincidence; christened “the mightiest clamp on earth,” his powerful mouth grabs hold of his foes and doesn’t let go. That, along with his other power — transporting himself and others across great distances, even between dimensions — makes him an important member of the Inhuman race. But what is Lockjaw, exactly? It’s unclear if he was born a giant bulldog or is a former human mutated into canine form (he does talk, after all). Regardless, one fan site calls Lockjaw the most powerful inhabitant of the Marvel universe, as he’s not restrained by the flaws and vices of other characters: “He has no real enemies, he is free to come and go as he pleases and do whatever he wants. And he enjoys life!”

Spider-Ham

Spider-Ham
Real name: Peter Porker
Powers: All of Spider-Man’s gifts, plus a snout
First appeared: 1983 in Marvel TailsNo. 1
Bio: Before The Simpsons introduced the world to “Spider-Pig,” there was Spider-Ham — an adorably plump anthropomorphic swine who lived on Larval Earth, along with such pun-inspired characters as the Fantastic Fur, Captain Americat, Iron Mouse and the Punfisher. Like most freakishly gifted superheroes, Spider-Ham was the product of a radioactive experiment gone horribly, hilariously awry in the basement of a mad scientist. Only this scientist, May Porker, wasn’t trying to take over the world. She was attempting to revolutionize America’s hair-care industry by inventing a blow-dryer powered by atomic energy. Sure, it’s a parody. But the ham stuck around until 1987.

The Great Lakes Avengers

The Great Lakes Avengers
Other names: The Great Lakes Champions, the Great Lakes Initiative
Home base: Milwaukee
Powers: High-pitched voice, voluntary obesity, squirrels
First appeared: 1989 in West Coast Avengersissue No. 46
Bio: When Milwaukee-based Mr. Immortal — a man who couldn’t be killed — realized that his self-healing properties didn’t help him fight crime, he placed a classified ad in the newspaper seeking superheroes with powers that complemented his own. Surprisingly, people responded. His team included:
Flatman: A man of “highly malleable” proportions who could make himself look two-dimensional.
Big Bertha: A Milwaukee supermodel (do those exist?) who could become enormously obese on command.
Dinah Soar: A woman with a voice so high-pitched that only Mr. Immortal could understand her.
Doorman: A man who created inter-dimensional portals through inanimate objects.
Squirrel Girl: A young woman who had the ability to control squirrels. She also dressed like one.
A sixth member, Leather Boy, was kicked out of the group after the team discovered that he was simply a leather fetishist who had misunderstood Mr. Immortal’s personal ad. (Seriously.)
The Midwestern crime-fighting powerhouse accomplished several heroic feats and saved America’s heartland from annihilation on more than one occasion. The group stopped a robbery at the Milwaukee Farmers & Merchants Building, rescued St. Louis from an extraterrestrial attack and halted tornadoes that tormented Ohio. Once they even saved Christmas for a suburb of Muskego, Wisc.

Puppet Master

Puppet Master
Real name: Phillip Masters
Place of birth: Dragorin, Transia
Powers: Uses radioactive clay to bring his puppets to life; they then proceed to wreak havoc.
First appeared: 1962 in Fantastic FourNo. 8
Bio: Battling the Human Torch, Invisible Girl, Mr. Fantastic and the Thing to gain control of the world is no easy task, but this villain was nothing but persistent — even once creating a puppet of himself that fell from a window to its death. Just another example of an otherwise good puppeteer corrupted by too much power, like John Cusack in Being John Malkovich, when Puppet Master got his hands on radioactive clay, he just couldn’t help using them to make his artfully crafted puppets do his evil will.

Howard the Duck

Howard the Duck
Aliases: Master of Quak Fu, the Feathered Fury
Place of birth: New Stork City, Duckworld
Powers: None, unless a wry sense of humor and a foul mouth count
First appeared: 1973 in Adventure into FearNo. 19
Bio: Following a cosmic power play gone wrong, the misanthropic mallard finds himself on planet Earth surrounded by a bunch of “hairless apes” who happen to speak Duckworld’s official language, English. After making a failed bid for the White House (a distrusting public accused him of being a short guy in a costume), he battles his arch nemesis, Dr. Bong, and Dr. Bong’s posse of evildoers, the Band of the Bland, before killing a vampire cow. None of these perils were quite so life-threatening as his career-killing turn opposite Lea Thompson in George Lucas’ notoriously bad 1986 film, Howard the Duck, which includes such cringe-inducing lines as “No duck is an island” and “No more Mr. Nice Duck.”

Swarm

Swarm
Real name: Fritz von Meyer
Place of birth: Somewhere in Germany
Powers: Can mentally influence the actions of bees and sometimes other insects
First appeared: 1977 in ChampionsNo. 14
Bio: The former Nazi scientist, who looted gold from European countries to fund his research, fled Germany and settled in South America. In experiments attempting to bend a swarm of bees to his control, von Meyer built a device that later malfunctioned, causing the bees to attack and kill him. But von Meyer’s former consciousness and the bees’ physical abilities formed into a new aggregate being — the villainous Swarm.

Ego

Ego
Real name: Ego (aliases include Nu-Xandar and the Living Planet)
Place of birth:: The Black Galaxy
Powers: It can shift its surface to appear as if it had a giant face and even grow enormous tentacles
First appeared: 1966 in Thor No. 132
Bio: This planet-size entity is somewhat difficult to define, considering its strength and intelligence are incalculable, but it does have organ-like masses under its surface and the ability to move itself. Ego’s plot for interstellar conquest saw him matched against Thor, the God of Thunder. Ego was defeated but still maintains the ability to morph into a paradise in order to lure unsuspecting travelers to their doom, and to masquerade as a barren world. It is also known for tapping energy sources from stars and other celestial bodies and absorbing their power for itself. In short: Earth, watch your back.

Dazzler

Dazzler
Real name: Alison Blaire
Hometown:: Gardendale, Long Island, New York
Powers: “Transducing” sonic vibrations into blinding light; creating holograms; roller-skating. She is also immune to the harmful effects of bright lights and loud noise
First appeared: 1980 in X-MenNo. 130
Bio: The brainchild of Marvel Comics and disco label Casablanca records, Alison Blaire was your typical, angst-ridden suburban teen until she discovered her mutant abilities at a middle-school dance. (Think Sixteen Candles meets Superman). After years of hiding her powers and conforming to her dad’s expectations, Blaire abandons law school and bursts onto the club scene with a new name (Dazzler), a new look (a shiny, silver jumpsuit) and a “technological secret” that enables her to create totally rad shows (including a performance at Carnegie Hall). But like most other 20-somethings, Blaire struggles to find her niche. She attempts careers in acting, modeling and fitness training before agreeing to join an X-Men offshoot called Excalibur.

NRA Releases Shooter for iOS Devices After Blaming Violent Video Games for Connecticut Shooting

by Nadeeja WickMonday 14, 2013 10:28 PM CST http://www.nextgenupdate.com/news/nra-releases-shooter-for-ios-devices-after-blaming-violent-video-games-for

We are all aware of the horrible shooting that happened in the past in Connecticut so there is no need for me to refresh your memory. In addition, I’m sure most of you are aware of the bashing the gaming industry has taken due to the shooting. One of the head members of the NRA (National Rifle Association), Wayne LaPierre, attacked violent video games such as Mortal Kombat and Bulletstorm at a press conference. Within a short month between these events, the same company who were verbally stomping violent video games has released a shooter for the iOS devices.
That game is called NRA: Practice Range.

Although many may argue that this game isn’t violent, the actions of the company are very hypocritical. The game consists of the player shooting targets at a firing range while unlocking news weapons. Sure, the game it self many present it self as innocent, but the concept is extremely ironic. Since these guys were blaming such games as Mortal Kombat and Bulletstorm, I’ve reason to argue they should be blamed for the release of their version of a shooter. Since many like to take things out of its original intentions, one may argue that this game will provide a virtual shooting range for psychopaths. Yes, I know, it’s preposterous; but bare with me on this. After excessive blame on violent games, the NRA’s release of this shooter present themselves as careless.
If the NRA hadn’t made such hasty statements regarding the video games connection to the shooting, then this release wouldn’t be an issue whatsoever. However, they did, and this is a extreme display of hypocrisy on their part.

Marvel: War of Heroes

Marvel: War of Heroes

Ref Code for Rare Card: xzu025044
(enter at the end of tutorial or before :) )

Marvel: War of Heroes is a card battle game from Mobage, in which you must build a deck full of super heroes from the lore of Marvel. You’ll be battling against other Marvel characters, so you’ll need to make sure your deck is up to par. With Gamezebo’s quick start guide, you’ll have all of the tips, tricks and walkthroughs necessary to stay ahead of the game.

Quick Start Guide

Getting Started
  • To get started quickly, go ahead and click on the “Play Now” button at the top of this screen. Marvel: War of Heroes is a free to play game, so there’s no worry if you discover it’s not your bag.
Marvel: War of Heroes
  • You will need an internet connection in order to start playing. Once the game has loaded up, you will be asked to login using your Mobage credentials. If you do not have a Mobage account, you can sign up for one from within the game.
Marvel: War of Heroes Marvel: War of Heroes
  • Upon signing in, you will be shown a short introduction video that shows you some of the characters you can interact with. Black Widow will also appear and tell you a bit about the story involving the Marvel Heroes.
Marvel: War of Heroes
  • After talking with Black Widow for a bit, she will give you a “Rally Card Pack” so you can get started. Tap on the Draw button to get going.
  • You’ll then be shown one of the cards inside your starter deck, and forced to use it in a short battle. Follow the prompts to continue.
Marvel: War of Heroes Marvel: War of Heroes
  • Next, the fuse mechanic will be shown where you can actually fuse together two similar cards creating one super card that has extra powers the individual cards don’t.
  • When fusing a card, it will become more rare and have much better stats.
Missions
  • In order to keep the flow of the game going, you will need to complete various tasks given to you as you progress. Doing these missions will earn you XP that you can use to make your deck even more powerful.
Marvel: War of Heroes
  • From the main menu screen of the game, go ahead and tap on the “Mission” button. This takes you to a list of available missions that you can complete. When you complete a mission, you will receive XP and Silver awards.
  • In order to complete missions however, you will need to spend energy to do so. If you don’t have enough to complete a mission just yet, you can just wait it out until you do. Most missions only require a few energy so it shouldn’t take long.
  • When you decide you’d like to work on a particular mission, tap on the “Proceed” button within it. You’ll then be taken to the battle screen, where all you need to do is press the “Attack” button to unleash an attack on any of the enemies on screen.
Marvel: War of Heroes
  • Keep pushing Attack until you have completed the mission (denoted by the progress bar just above the attack button), and you will receive your rewards for doing so.
  • Some mission rewards can even be new cards. In the example seen above, I earned a Sandman card.
  • Once you have fully completed a mission, you will unlock the next mission in the series. You can then complete a higher-level mission that has a greater risk, but also better rewards for a successful completion.
Battling Opponents
  • What good would a card battle game be if it didn’t have opponents for you to battle against? In this game, just select the “Battle” option in the main menu to get started.
  • Now, you can see a list of available opponents for you to face. These opponents can be a bit higher or lower level than you, which you can take into account for an advantage if you wish.
  • Obviously, an opponent that is lower level than you tends to have a disadvantage than one that is the same or higher level. You can take out them for the easy kill, or pick on someone your own size if you want to try for a much better reward.
Marvel: War of Heroes
  • Once you’ve decided on an opponent, tap on their name. You’ll now be taken to the deck selection screen where you can decide which of your heroes you’d like to bring along with you.
Marvel: War of Heroes
  • Select your deck from the drop down menu, then you can scroll down and tap “Start Battle”. The battle will then commence until a winner is crowned.
  • Once the battle finishes, you can view the result. Win or lose, you will come away knowing that you can probably do even better next time. Experimenting with different decks and hero cards is a great way to improve your stance in the battleground.
Boosting and Fusing Cards
  • One way to get better cards is to use duplicates or lesser cards to boost some of your powerful cards.
Marvel: War of Heroes Marvel: War of Heroes
  • From the “Boost” screen, you can select cards to boost and then other cards to use that will boost that one card. This is especially useful if you have multiples of cards in your inventory.
  • An alternative to boosting your cards is the ability to fuse cards under the “Fusion” menu.
  • Here, you can fuse two cards that are the same to make that card more powerful just as you can with boosting. Although, fusing two of the same cards will make a more powerful card than the Boost option.
Friends and Referral Rewards
  • You can play with your friends if you give them your referral code, and even earn some bonus items in the meantime.
  • To access your referral code, tap on “Home”, then on “Invite your Friends!” which is about halfway down the page.
Marvel: War of Heroes
  • Once there, tap on the “Get a “Referral Code”” button to see your code. Copy this code down and send it to your friends so they can become your friends, and so you can earn extra rewards.
Marvel: War of Heroes
  • Some of the rewards you can earn by inviting friends are a Black Widow card, silver and more. Your friends will also receive bonuses by entering in your code.
Congratulations!
